Void of sleep

Sleep has become a far-fetched dream

No matter what, it just doesn’t seem

To be interested to let me close

My tired eyes and doze

My worries, my fears come in the way

And stand like monsters waiting to slay

And if somehow I manage to sleep

It’s so shallow and never deep

I wake up every now and then

Only wanting to sleep well again

I long for those days when I could sleep at will

Peacefully for hours no matter healthy or ill

Blessed was that age of sleep uninterrupted

With the years, sleep has only got corrupted

How I wish, I could become that little girl

Who, could run to mommy’s lap and curl

Dream about magic, fairies, flowers and butterflies

And wake-up each day to a cheerful, carefree and pleasant sunrise!
